Treating your body to healthy snacks

Loving yourself doesn't always mean going to spend thousands of dollars to spoil yourself. Those are all materialistic things. Sometimes loving yourself is treating your body right, giving it what it needs, like healthy foods. Sure, I love chips and junk food too, not to mention sweets like chocolate, but healthy foods are so much better for your body. Your body needs vitamins, proteins, healthy fats, iron and more. Here are somethings you can eat to keep your body healthy (and you might end up liking these foods as well). 
Vitamins
  • Vitamin A plays an important part in your vision You can find this vitamin in: dark leafy veggies, low fat milk, orange fruits and veggies
  • Vitamin C helps your body fight infections & keeps you from getting sick. You can find this vitamin in: broccoli, cabbage, citrus foods like oranges, kiwi, strawberries etc.
  • Vitamin D plays an important part in building strong bones & teeth. You can get this vitamin in: low fat milk, fish, egg yolks, fortified breakfast cereal, etc.
Minerals
  • Calcium is the master of building strong bones and teeth and  helps to maintain your normal heart beat. You can find it in dairy products like yogurt and cheese, canned fish, and leafy greens.
  • Phosphorus is essential in forming healthy teeth and bones as well as every cell in your body. You can find this mineral in fish, meat, cheese, and yogurt.
  • Zinc plays an important part, along with vitamin C, it helps protect your body from getting sick,  helps cells grow, and heal wounds.- you can find this mineral in Meats, nuts, beans and legumes.
  • Iron helps red blood cell carry oxygen to all parts of your body. You can get this mineral from dried fruits, beans, and whole grains
  • Magnesium helps the muscles and nerve functions, keeps your heart strong, and strengthens bones.You can find this mineral in whole grains, nuts, seeds, leafy veggies, beans, and bananas .
  • Potassium keeps your muscles & nervous system working by making sure the right amount of water is in your cells and body fluids. You can find this mineral in potatoes, avocado, tomatoes, mushroom, and spinach.
Healthy Fats
  • Healthy fats help reduce cholesterol levels and lower blood pressure. You can find these fats in almonds, avocados, and olive oil.
Good Bacteria
  • Good bacteria helps keep your intestines healthy, help digest food, and help avoid getting sick. You can find this good bacteria in yogurt!
Fiber
  • Fiber helps us feel full, aids in digestion, protects against heart diseases, and helps with removal of waste. You can find fiber in fruits veggies, whole grains, nuts, and seeds.
Protein
  • Protein helps your body build maintain and repair tissues. You can find protein in meat, fish, nuts, seeds, eggs, and milk.

Give your body the healthy snacks it needs. Self love is also self care.  Just remember,  it is okay to eat a sweet or two as long as you don't over do it. That can cause a stomach ache.
